Minutes for July 1, 2025 SCC Meeting

The Free New Mexico (FNM) Party State Central Committee (SCC) called a meeting to order at 7:05 PM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Present at the call to order were the Chair, Vice Chair/Secretary, and Treasurer, and the Affiliate, Campaigns, Outreach, and Fundraising Directors. The Legislative Director also joined the call immediately after the call to order.

The agenda was:

1) Treasurer’s Report

2) Approve recent Proposed Minutes

3) Consider any issues raised by the Board

Before official business, there was some discussion about the unofficial Facebook groups and various social media issues.

The Treasurer then gave his report. The only charge of note was $13.99 from the main checking account for website upkeep. The non-federal account stood at $1371.29, the federal account at $15907.43, and the savings account at $10. The Treasurer also noted an FEC reporting deadline coming up on the last day of July.

The Chair then gave a report on the situation with the letter to the Secretary of State regarding ballot access. There was some discussion about further actions to be taken and the possibility of legal action, including finding witnesses who were confused by the Secretary of State misprints in the 2024 election.

The Campaigns Director offered to help as co-counsel as appropriate.

Further discussion focused on an effort to find counsel that was licensed in New Mexico to work on the case. Various options and ideas were discussed. One possibility was retaining a lawyer for consultation about the issue. The Campaigns Director moved to explore litigation options to resolve the issue with the Secretary of State, and to determine costs and feasibility. The motion was passed unanimously by roll call vote.

Further discussion suggested it might be of value to make some kind of public release about the situation. The Chair moved to allocate funds for an advertisement, but withdrew the motion until more information was available. Campaigns then made a motion to allocate $500 to pay for a consultation with Paul Kennedy. After some discussion, the vote passed unanimously by roll call.

The Chair then moved to adjourn. There was some discussion about possible issues to raise for the next meeting, and its timing. However, the motion to adjourn was passed without any objections. The FNM Party SCC adjourned at 8:03 PM.
