The Free New Mexico Party (FNM Party) State Central Committee (SCC) called a meeting to to order at 7:11 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. The members present were the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Outreach Director, Legislative Director, and Campaigns Director.
The agenda was:
1) Call for nominations for the Vice Chair position
2) Elect Vice Chair
The Chair opened the floor for nominations for the Vice Chair position. The Outreach Director, Shaun Ebright, nominated himself for the position.
After some discussion, the Chair moved to have a vote on the position of Vice Chair, with Shaun Ebright and None of the Above as potential choices. A roll call vote came back unanimously in favor of Shaun Ebright, who takes the position of Vice Chair in addition to Outreach Director.
After that, the Chair related some details about a meeting between LP National, himself, and the Campaigns Director. There was some discussion about the signature petition for minor party status as well as some confusion about the signature forms missing a “date of birth” field.
One additional point raised was that allocation of money for signatures should be placed on the next meeting’s agenda.
After that, the Chair opened the floor for questions and comments. The dominant topic was questions about the signature drive and validation of signatures. Also discussed was the ability of the FNM Party to support or endorse candidates for the 2024 election cycle. The FNM Party cannot run partisan candidates until it achieves minor party status, but according to the Bylaws, we can endorse or support candidates who are members of the FNM Party.
Finally, the Chair moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed without objection, and the meeting adjourned at 7:43 PM.
